14 June 2017

National Volunteer Week is nearly upon us and the theme this year is ‘Live, laugh, share - Volunteer’ or ‘Kia ringa hora: Me mahi tuao’. We encourage everyone to show thanks to our community’s volunteers and to recognise the place volunteering has in keeping the Upper Clutha strong, healthy and connected.

To celebrate, Volunteering Central invites volunteers to come in out of the cold for an hour of refreshments, chat, inspiration and lots of warm fuzzies! We are thrilled to be joined by 16-year-old Leo Munro-Heward (pictured above) who will be sharing his journey of volunteering with anti-cyber bullying group Sticks ‘n Stones and his experience of being awarded at the New Zealand Youth Awards for his work in setting up the Queer Straight Alliance in Wanaka.

The celebration takes place on Thursday 22nd June, 1.30 – 2.30pm at St. Johns, Link Way. Volunteers from all walks of life are very welcome!

If you would like to attend please contact Gillian so she is able to ensure there are enough refreshments: 027 506 5705 Full details can be found at

Volunteering Central is an initiative of Central Lakes Trust. We would like to thank them, New World, St John, Wanaka Marquee & Party Hire, Liz Breslin (Students in the Community) and Leo Munro-Heward for their support.
