2017 NZ Mountain Film & Book Festival
The 15th NZ Mountain Film and Book Festival will soon open in Wanaka. The event will host international and NZ speakers, a world-class line-up of films and a broad range of literary events, all
honouring adventurous sports and lifestyles. Enjoy highly crafted films championing the love of the
outdoors, adventure, the environment and foreign cultures. Of the 78 films featured, seven of the films
are world premieres and six are from Wanaka filmmakers.
Keynote speakers at this year’s event include one of the world’s most acclaimed climbers, Leo Houlding. Leo is a veteran of a score of epic ascents, including Everest, but specialises in free climbing the most technical peaks and biggest walls in the world. Also in the line up are Australian 8,000m climber Christine Jensen Burke, Kiwi climber Penny Webster and Australian author and adventurer Tim Cope. New to the event line-up this year is a free family film show designed to inspire the next generation of adventurers and ensure participation in the festival is accessible for all ages and families.
