Crime Line

2 August 2017

A couple of exciting Super Rugby semi-finals were played over the weekend and this coming weekend is the showdown in Johannesburg. Let’s hope the mighty Crusaders play their A game because I think they’ll need it!

Last week saw our young ones back to school, so thanks to everyone who kept an eye out watching for kids crossing the roads and to those who kept their speeds down going past school buses and on the streets in those school zones. Your continued focus in this area will ensure that the kids of our community continue to feel safe and be safe.

Police received a call from a member of the public in relation to an unresponsive female lying on the footpath on MacPherson Street. When police arrived she became very responsive, so much so that she had to cool off in the police cells for a few hours. It was established that she had consumed a large amount of vodka during the day.

A male lost his black Nike backpack at the Snow Farm ski field which contained several valuable items: a 7D Canon Camera, Apple Macbook laptop, small UE Boom speaker and black Beats headphones. Anyone with information relating to this can pop in to the police station to let us know.

There were 2 reports of wilful damage on Dunmore Street over the past week. Bella Vista Motel had their sign damaged and the Masonic Lodge car park had a barrier arm damaged. If anyone can let us know information about this it would be greatly appreciated.

Over the past week there were two people processed for driving whilst intoxicated. This still appears to be a concerning factor for our community and anyone driving under the influence of alcohol poses a serious risk to other road users within our community. Police intend to focus more in this area over the next few weeks.

Keep warm and enjoy the rest of the week.
