Kickstart your weekend with your local Parkrun community… Jane and Adam Sharman are really excited to be bringing Parkrun to Wanaka, starting this weekend! Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs
around the world. They are open to people of all ability, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. Jane explains, “The events are all about fitness and community – you can feel comfortable whatever stage you’re at”.

Parkrun started 13 years ago in London with a group of friends and it has grown to over 1300 events across 19 countries and over 4 million registered participants. Parkrun Wanaka will take place every Saturday morning at 8am (9am in winter), starting at the picturesque Wanaka Station Park with an out and back loop to Waterfall Creek.

“We have designed the course to make the most of the great sheltered hub in Station Park with a truly stunning run along the lake path – this is what Wanaka is all about!”

As is tradition with Parkrun, participants are all invited to meet for a post-event coffee at Edgewater.

Parkrun is organised entirely by volunteers – who do it for the love of it! “We had a great experience joining Parkrun in Auckland when we moved there and now we want to share the fun and enjoyment with the Wanaka community” says Jane. Participants are encouraged to help by volunteering and any interested volunteers should get in touch.

You must register to take part in this event and you only ever need to do this once – then your barcode will give you access to any Parkrun worldwide, including your detailed stats of each run completed.

A huge thank you to QLDC, Edgewater and Outside Sports for helping to get this event up and running and for their ongoing support!
