The Showgrounds Community Sports Centre Trust rebuild of the Upper Clutha Rugby clubrooms has been completed in time to host Otago’s first defence of the Ranfurly Shield. This game will be played on Saturday in front of a sellout crowd.
The new building named The Pembroke Pavilion has doubled the size of the old clubrooms with the facilities now boasting 4 changing rooms, a function room capable of hosting 250 people, a meeting room and a commercial kitchen and bar.
An amazing effort has been put in by so many locals and businesses to get the facilities finished on the limited budget.
The new building has kept the original wooden ceiling and beams but everything else has been replaced. Fundraising is underway to complete the landscaping which includes a large outdoor deck with inbuilt seating and a BBQ.
The Trust would like to thank all those involved in this project and good luck to Otago on Saturday
