Celebrating 10 Years of Riding for the Disabled in Wanaka

11 September 2019

Wanaka RDA has been operating for over 10 years and has provided adults and children who have disabilities the opportunity to enjoy horse riding and horse related activities that are supervised by our two qualified coaches with the assistance of trained volunteers and suitable horses.
We still have two original riders, Rick Maclean and Simon Scaife as well as two original volunteers, Heather Halliday and Carol Armstrong. The sessions are held at Waterfall Equestrian Centre on a Thursday during term 1 and term 4.

The horses and arena are hired from Waterfall Equestrian Centre and we own most of the equipment used. This has been made possible by the very generous funding that we have received by way of grants, donations and payment for services. Thank you to the following tor your fantastic support. Central Lakes Trust, Southern Trust, COGS, The Rotary Club of Wanaka, Elsie & Ray Armstrong Charitable Trust, Leo Lions, NZRDA Perpetual Members Trust, Graeme & Olive West Charitable Trust, Lions Magic Show Charitable Trust, Wanaka Upper Clutha Lions, Bendigo Valley Sports and Charity Foundation, The Lion Foundation, Serendipity, Trust Power QLDC Community Awards, ANZ, Wanaka Rodeo and Hawea Picnic Races.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer please contact Katie Ross on 021 752 210, or Kay Ross on 443 2611 or 027 2273 338.

To celebrate our 10 years of riding we will be holding a sausage sizzle at Mitre 10 on 14th September. We look forward to seeing you there.
