TUKI Festival Sat 8th February 2020
Exploring all avenues of sustainable initiatives, Tuki organisers are encouraging festival-goers to help keep it green with three simple requests for the Waitangi Weekend event at Glendhu Bay:
1. Bring your own Globelet from any past event (eg Beerfest, Rhythm & Alps)
2. Bring an empty water bottle and refill at the water stations
3. Be open to sustainable waste options in all (even hay bale!) formats
Since 1998 the team from Lake Wanaka SouNZ have worked alongside Wanaka Wastebusters to ensure the land is left pristine, and patrons enjoy being a part of the Tuki (fka Rippon) Festival goal in becoming a climate positive event.
Expecting over 2000 for the bi-ennial event, Assistant Director Josephine Gallagher and Recycling Manager Sonata McLeod feel confident that with 74% of the patrons being from within the region, the target is within reach, and hope to lead the way for other festivals.
